PINCHE TEATRO Seeks Latinx Writers

PINCHE TEATRO, a new theatre collective that seeks to disturb the way Spanish and Latinx theatre is produced in La Phoenikera is doing a playwriting competition.

It’s called AMORPHX Short Play Contest and they are calling out to Latinx writers in the city and the metro area to submit a 10-minute play or scene with the theme “Phoenix I love you.” Plays can be submitted in English or Spanish.

The winners of the contest will then have a chance to workshop their play with professional writers and dramaturgs and the plays will be performed during a public reading in May.

“One of the objectives of PINCHE TEATRO is to build capacity within the Latinx theatre scene in Phoenix,” says Israel Jimenez, one of the founders of the collective. “This contest is about engaging local writers in theatre production and creating quality works with local talent.”
