4 Reasons You Should Work for the Census
UNO. Flexible schedules. Census jobs are part-time and you can choose when you want to work. If you already have a job and want to make extra mula, this is for you! Are you a teacher and want to make some dough during the summer? Um…Census!
DOS. You’ll work in your own barrio. The U.S. Census Bureau tries to hire people in every community because it helps build the trust of those responding. That means you probably won’t have to travel too far to do the work.
TRES. You can help make sure EVERYONE gets counted. You know your community best. Let’s say you’re Latinx and you happen to knock on the door of a Latinx family. If they say only three people live in the house, you can be like “¿Segura que nomás viven tres personas en su casa seño? No tiene algún hermano, tio o abuelita viviendo con usted? ¡Ellos también cuentan!”
CUATRO. Great pay! In La Phoenikera, you’ll make $19.50/hour as a Census-taker. Do you have staff management experience? ‘Cuz as a supervisor you can make $21.50/hour…say whaaaa?!
To apply for a Census job go to www.2020census.gov/jobs. Tell them La Phoenikera sent you! Just kidding, you can’t tell ’em anything.
